An emaciated puppy trapped in a water bucket in South Texas has been rescued. The disturbing discovery occurred when a homeowner heard her own dog barking; she went outside to investigate and found the helpless puppy.

The puppy was overheated, covered with fleas and swollen with parasites. After she was pulled out of the bucket, the homeowner called animal control. The officer moved the nearly unconscious puppy to a cooler area and administered Pedialyte and NutriCal to help.

Dallas Dog -Rescue.Rehab.Reform stepped up to help after the puppy was taken to a local animal shelter, and no other rescue offered to help. She has been named Calli.

“…No one was tagging; she was sitting in the shelter she NEEDED medical care so we stepped in and rescued her. Although we are stretched thin, it is tough to watch some of these dogs suffer and go without medical care,” the organization posted on their Facebook page.

Donations are needed. There are so many dogs that have been abandoned; South Texas rescue organizations need your help.
