On Friday, a dying dog was abandoned in the parking lot of an animal shelter in Kentucky. The Kentucky Humane Society posted multiple photos of the skeletal dog, dubbed, Ethan, and explained what happened:
For those who haven’t seen our earlier posts, yesterday a dying dog was discarded in the KHS parking lot. Someone dropping off wish list donations saw the dog and alerted staff, who rushed him to our Veterinary Services department.
Ethan was given warmed IV fluids and warming blankets as staff worked to save his life. The shelter described Ethan’s grave condition, writing:
He is the thinnest dog we have ever seen that was still breathing, weighing only 38 lbs when he should weigh at least 80 lbs.
Ethan went home with a veterinary technician who was able to monitor him. Tragically, during the night his condition deteriorated. The shelter stated:
He was immediately rushed to an emergency hospital and is now in their care where he can hopefully be stabilized. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he fights for his life. Ethan has shown he is so resilient but his body has been through so much and we do not know if he will be able to pull through.
