A heavily intoxicated woman in Radcliffe, Gtr Manchester, did the unthinkable after drinking three bottles of wine. As reported by The Sun, 48-year-old Suzanne Bennett repeatedly stabbed her cat, Poppy, and then put the cat into the freezer with her prepared meals.
According to the news agency, Bennett reported herself to the authorities after attacking her cat. When officers arrived, they could hear the injured cat meowing from inside of the freezer – amazingly, despite nearly a dozen stab wounds, Poppy was still alive and has since recovered!
In court, Bennett said:
“I had them since they were eight weeks old. I treated them like they were my children. I looked after them before I looked after myself. I do not know how many times I stabbed them, by the way.”
Bennett was ordered to undergo an alcohol treatment program, and was forbidden from owning animals for the next five years. She also had to pay a fine and contribute to Poppy’s veterinary expenses.
