Dozens of animals have been rescued from an Ohio home described as “deplorable.” According to a release from the Toledo Humane Society, their team of cruelty officers discovered more than 30 animals living in squalor, in a residence infested with cockroaches, where dogs were tethered to cabinets.
In the release, the animal welfare agency recounts the troubling situation, writing:
On Friday, January 15th, our team of cruelty officers were able to obtain a search warrant to a home regarding suspected animal cruelty. Upon arrival, our officers found over 30 animals – dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens – living in deplorable conditions.
Adding:
A severe infestation of cockroaches. Cats stacked in cages upon cages. Dogs tied to cabinets. Litters of puppies covered in urine, feces, and hidden in garbage. This is just the beginning of the conditions these animals were found in.
The rescued animals were taken back to the shelter where they were cleaned and provided with care.
