On Father’s Day, a grim discovery was made in the East River, in Queens, New York. As reported by the New York Post, someone saw something floating in the river, and upon closer inspection, it was determined to be a dead dog.

Someone had tied a plastic bag around the dog’s head and tethered the body to a cinder block before dumping the dog in the water. The NYPD Harbor Unit was called out to retrieve the dog’s body.

Investigators are trying to determine if the dog had a microchip or other form of identification. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or by visiting crimestoppers.nypdonline.org.
