A young dog is getting her first taste of freedom and kindness after being freed from life on a chain. The four-year-old dog, named Lola, was removed from a miserable existence thanks to a good Samaritan who took action. On Sunday, the Dallas Dog Rescue.Rehab.Reform organization shared Lola’s story via social media, writing:

Meet Lola she was aided by a Good Samaritan she spent her life all 4 years living on a short chain and that is NOT it she also had a pinch collar around her neck. The chain was so SHORT that she couldn’t reached her food or water bowl on most occasions worst yet she couldn’t even reach her covered shelter in the Texas heat!

Lola was tethered at a residence in Houston, and the good Samaritan who helped end her misery reached out for rescue help to ensure that she would get the veterinary care that she needed, as well as a new life of freedom. A veterinary exam revealed that aside from Lola’s poor (underweight) body score, she is heartworm positive and infested with fleas.

Dallas Dog Rescue.Rehab.Reform is collecting donations to help Lola get all of the care that she needs to recover from the years of neglect that she has endured.
