A dog nearly starved to death after being abandoned inside of a rental house in Telfair County, Georgia. Telfair County Sheriff Sim Davidson released details about the animal cruelty case:
Earlier today, our office received a call from a concerned citizen about the welfare of this dog who was left abandoned at an unoccupied residence. A deputy responded and found the dog severely malnourished and neglected with no food or water. Warrants will be taken for animal cruelty in this case.
WGXA reports that Sheriff Davidson stated that it was a renter who had moved out of the residence, leaving the dog behind. The dog was taken to The Rescue Ranch in McRae-Helena for care.
A warrant has been issued for the suspect’s arrest – the person’s identity has not been shared publicly.
