A horribly neglected dog was reduced to skin and bones after being left in a small cage without food. Days ago, Hope For Life Rescue, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, alerted Facebook followers that the dog, dubbed Ziggy, had been rescued from her dismal situation. The rescue organization stated:
STARVED & ABANDONED! 😢😢😢
Meet Ziggy! This poor girl was starved and kept in a 24 inch crate. She only weighs 26 lbs. (about half of what she should weigh) and when she was found she was too weak to stand and wasn’t able to bark, but she did try to wag her tail. 😢
She will be arriving this afternoon. 🥺❤️
An update to the original Facebook post indicates that the dog’s owner (un-named at this point) will be facing charges.
According to WTVR News, Ziggy was rescued because her owner’s roommate called animal control after finding her confined to a small, 24 inch crate. Ziggy requires round-the-clock care to help her recuperate from being nearly starved to death.
