A senior dog named Pooch was lucky enough to find a home when he was a young, healthy dog, Tragically, his owners failed to properly care for him through the years and when he was 10 years of age, and in pitiful condition, he was dumped at a Nevada animal shelter.
Pooch has been taken under the wing of Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue – the agency is trying to undo all of the neglect that Pooch has suffered. The rescue group writes:
Meet Pooch. He is 10 years old adopted from a shelter when he was young and healthy. His owner dumped him at our local shelter last week in such bad condition the shelter labeled him as needing “end of life” care. Pooch is only 10 yrs old yet his mouth and teeth are destroyed.
On Wednesday, the rescue agency detailed the extent of this dog’s condition:
Remember how we posted that his teeth were so rotted it’s called trench mouth. The infection was affecting his kidneys and white count. This is what no dental ever can do. i can not imagine the pain over the years. He should have lost every single tooth but 4 were deeply into jaw bone. It was feared an attempted removal would break the jaw. He will be 3-4 days recovering on fluids/pain medication and follow up blood work to check kidney values.
