Oops! A councilman in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, found himself in hot water after bragging about killing and eating robins, on social media. According to multiple sources, 20-year-old Raheem T. Pierce, a District 6 council member, posted photos on social media, writing:

“Fried Robin fresh out of the backyard for breakfast! #countrylife #wecansurvive.”

The post prompted a visit from state wildlife officials who issued the young man a summons for killing the federally protected migratory song birds.

Pierce has since admitted that he messed up, and he is willing to accept the consequences. He said:

I would not be a very intelligent person with the position that I’m in to post something illegal. It was a simple mistake that I was unaware of.”

According to WBRZ News, Pierce “only ate four” robins. So far, it is unclear what Pierce’s punishment will be, but he could face a maximum fine of $1,000 and/or 120 days in jail

  1. I don’t understand WHY this man did what he did…..

When I was a child, I knew someone who would kill small birds and bbq them.

I couldn’t understand WHY….. they were so small……. he had money to go to a store and buy food……

I just don’t understand why anyone would kill small birds to eat…… vs. going to a store and buying what’s on offer…….
