Cold, dark Kentucky hellhole abandoned with freezing puppies under a bed crying for help

In a cold, dark shuttered home in Kentucky, the Guardians of Rescue and the Mason County Sheriff’s Department rescued nearly 20 dogs who had been abandoned and left with no food or water. The house had no electricity or heat – the temperatures had fallen so low that even the water in the toilet bowls had frozen solid.

According to the Guardians of Rescue, volunteers were shocked at how the surviving dogs had been living. Sick puppies were discovered crying under a bed freezing.

Also, in the home authorities found a very large bird cage – its occupant was nothing more than bones and feathers scattered throughout two rooms.

The survivors are now able to leave their suffering behind, but their recovery will involve expensive medical treatment and rehabilitation.

“This is an ongoing investigation, and evidence collection is still active. Tremendous thanks to the Mason County Sheriff’s Department for their commitment to seeing that this abuse and suffering ends—their swift action made the difference for these survivors. Working together, the Sheriff, Guardians and our rescue partners will collectively see that justice is served in this case,” the non-profit posted on their Facebook page.
