A Cheshire cat who had been missing for the last 20 years spent her final two days of her life reunited with her long lost owner. Phoebe was found just seven miles from her home where she disappeared at two-years-old.

According to the RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange Animal Center, Phoebe vanished from her owner Christine Ball’s home in Nantwich in 2001. Christine had given up hope she would ever find her cat years ago. She had Phoebe’s photos and information posted on poles and even knocked on neighbors’ doors looking for her special kitty. No one ever reported seeing the cat.

One can only imagine Christine’s shock on Friday when the RSPCA called her to report they found Phoebe. A Good Samaritan had found the cat wandering alone in a field in Bridgemere and brought the cat to the RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange Animal Centre.

Big News for 22 year old Phoebe
Yesterday we had this beautiful cat brought in. She was not in a good condition, but we have scanned for a microchip and thankfully she was chipped. Not only was she chipped but her details were kept up to date and we have managed to trace her owner.
Phoebe is a 22 year old cat who had been missing for 20 years. She had originally been adopted from us and is now being reunited with her owner. Phoebe is a great example of how good microchipping can be if your animals are microchipped and details kept up to date.
Sadly, Phoebe was in failing health when she arrived at the rescue center. She was having convulsions and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The veterinarian decided humane euthanasia would be the kindest decision for Phoebe, however Christine brought her cat home for two days and gave her lots of love.
Christine was very thankful for the reunion with her beloved feline companion. Rest in peace Phoebe.
Please microchip your pets – if only for a fleeting moment in time, Phoebe and Christine were reunited. No one knows where Phoebe lived for the last two decades, but most likely she had been someone’s pet.

  1. This is so sad!!! Whoever had Phoebe all these years “turned her loose to die” (how else does a house cat end up in a field away from homes)???

Thank goodness for the micro chip and Phoebe’s original human keeping the information up to date!!! @ least Phoebe’s original human received the ultimate gift of closure. She was able to love her and snuggle her and say goodbye vs. always wondering what happened to her furbaby…..

About those missing 20 years of companionship…….. well…….

Phoebe, I know that you are absolutely in Heaven. Please look for MacKitty and join his wonderful snuggle buddies group and RIP amongst loving friends.
