In Cornwall, England, a cat helped to rescue her elderly owner after the 83-year-old woman fell down a ravine. The woman had been missing for more than an hour and worried neighbors called police to help locate the woman.

According to the Bodmin Police Hub, a passerby heard the woman’s cat, Piran meowing loudly. With that, authorities suspected the cat was trying to alert them to the whereabouts of her favorite human. As authorities searched, they found the woman had fallen 70 feet into a stream with difficult and limited access to help her.

Fortunately, rescuers were able to lift the woman out from the ravine and used an emergency helicopter to transport her to a hospital where she has been reported to be in stable condition.

“The elderly female had fallen approximately 70ft down a very steep embankment, with incredibly difficult access and uneven terrain. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance, along with their specialist water rescue team, Cornwall Air Ambulance, and SWAST, and the female was hoisted back up to the field on a stretcher via line rescue. She was then taken to hospital via the Air Ambulance in a stable condition. Piran the cat saved the day!”

The police shared the update that the woman is in good spirits.

How’s that for a clever kitty? You’re a hero Piran! Great job.
