A Bristol, Virginia man has been charged with animal cruelty after authorities report he had been dragging his dog behind his vehicle on Sunday. According to the Bristol Virginia Police Department, Dustin Tyler Edwards faces felony animal cruelty causing death or injury.

On Sunday evening, eyewitnesses called police concerning a dog being dragged behind a vehicle. Concerned citizens tried to get the driver’s attention, but were unsuccessful. One person was finally able to get the driver to stop, however the tether attached to the back of the vehicle had broken, and the dog was no longer there.

Police retraced the path of Edwards’ vehicle and found the dog lying in the middle of the road. He was critically injured and died before he could receive veterinary care.

Edwards stated the dragging of his dog had been an accident. He is currently being held without bond in the Bristol Virginia Jail.

Awww…he has the look of someone who is remorseful and sad about what happened. Unfortunate as it truly is, he IS still responsible for what happened. I hope and pray he uses this experience to learn and become a better pet parent.
