In Ashland, Massachusetts, a 12-year-old therapy dog who has been a social media love pup will once again be joining his fans with his “Boston Strong” flag cheering on the runners as his usual spot located near Ashland State Park.

During the last race which took place in 2019, the dog named Spencer wore a raincoat while his sister Penny didn’t participate, however Rich Powers, of The Henry Studio shared that Penny will likely return to the course on Monday.

According to People, the Covid-19 pandemic caused the 2020 race to be canceled, and because of the resurgence earlier this year, the race will be run in the fall rather than the spring.

Spencer, however had his own issues to overcome. Powers said that the dog had surgery to remove a 3.5-pound tumor.

“We almost lost our Spencer last year and thought he would never be able to cheer the Boston marathon again. It has been a long wait but Spencer is ready to see you all again.”
