A bobcat, frozen to train tracks in B.C., Canada, was saved this week by a train crew. On Thursday, Coby Reid, a Nelson and Ft. Sheppard Railway train conductor, posted an image of the bobcat to Facebook, writing:

Saved this little guy today he was enjoying his breakfast (duck) and froze to the rail. We got some warm water and freed him up #railway #notalynx #bobcat #trailbc #kootenaylife

On the post, which was shared nearly 600 times, someone asked if the cat tried to bite anyone during the rescue effort. Coby replied, “wasn’t happy, that’s forsure. Was protecting his duck.”

Nelson and Ft. Sheppard Railway told Global News:

We have a great team, and it’s not surprising to hear about our crew members extending their care and concern beyond our rail operations to help this bobcat in distress

The public Facebook post has nearly 100 comments, which commend the train crew for their compassion. Most of the comments include, “That’s Awesome,” and “How sweet!”

Great job crew!!

  1. Glad this wild cat was rescued!!! It took effort by the train crew, but it’s wonderful to see them take the time to save the little treasure vs. simply killing it with a train running on the track…….
