This week, an incredibly neglected dog, buried beneath pounds of filthy, matted fur, was found in the yard of a good Samaritan in Clinton, South Carolina. According to the HEART of LCAC, animal control picked up the pitiful dog and brought him to the Clinton Animal Hospital for care.
The dog was sedated and given I.V. fluids, and then staff went to work to cut away the plethora of matted fur that was making the small dog absolutely miserable, and frankly, lucky to be alive.
When the fur was cut away, all 15 pounds of it, there was an adorable dog finally visible.
After the pooch was cleaned up, the rescue group wrote:
Good morning from Pat the Mat. He is a spunky little dude. He is around 9 years old, un-neutered, and needs a major dental. He is Heartworm negative!!!
Donations to help cover the veterinary expenses for “Pat the Mat” can be made to the rescue group via Facebook.
