Luna is a Golden Retriever and barely two-years-old. Over the weekend she was surrendered to a local animal shelter in horrific condition. Her body – nothing more than skin on bones, weighed in at only 25 pounds.
Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue has stepped in to help, and Luna is now under the care of their partner veterinarian clinic where she is receiving the medical and nutritional care she needs.
A brief video shows the true nature of this special breed – despite her former treatment she still happily wags her tail:

Her latest medical examination and notes indicate the following:
“In true Golden spirit Luna is still wagging her tail. We are running a bunch of tests to see if there are any underlying medical conditions that could be attributing to Luna’s current condition. Her bloodwork looks surprisingly decent for her condition – a few things not quite normal so we will run some additional tests. We’ve ruled out diabetes. We will look for megaesophagus (so far she’s keeping food down), Addison’s and some other things and she seems stable at this point.”
An animal cruelty investigation is underway.
