At the Miami-Dade Animal Services, a young Australian shepherd mix little more than a year-old is terrified in her shelter cage.

The tricolor dog, named Martha (ID#A2255637) was found as a stray and has been available for adoption since July 9. Her advocate spent time with her and describes Martha:

“Pet observed in kennel
Pet is fearful.
Pet attempts to avoid contact, doesn’t show aggression but is tense. Pet is frozen at the back of cage, whale eyes and ears back.
Pet was moved to quieter room.
Offered a different treat, pet was reluctant to take them but then took them from my hand and gently. Pet was more trusting. Pet came up to kennel door and was more relax.”

  1. She is absolutely gorgeous!!! She looks well cared for. Too bad she’s not chipped……. her family could have been contacted.
I hope someone local can open their heart and home for her. I am in the Seattle area and already have 4 “littles“….. I am heartsick at the thought of this precious little treasure being euthanized for being afraid. Fear in a shelter is not unusual.
As I stated before, she does not look like she was “wandering around the streets for weeks”. She looks like a lost furbaby who is overwhelmed by her shelter surroundings.
