An Alabama animal hospital’s social media post, featuring a jar of “goodbye kisses,” has resonated with pet owners. The post, made by Smiths Station Animal Hospital, shows a jar full of Hershey kisses, and an explanation which reads:
“This jar is reserved for our euthanasia appointments…because no dog should go to Heaven without tasting chocolate,”
Dr. Namie shared the post on September 20, and it quickly went viral on Facebook. The post has over 125k shares and 13k comments from pet owners who have shared their own personal stories of loss and goodbyes.
The animal hospital was shocked by the overwhelming response to their post. On September 23, they wrote:
Wow! We did not expect a post to become so viral! Thank you everyone so much for your support and love. We love our patients so much and this just made our day
Saying goodbye is never easy. But remember, it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all (Alfred Lord Tennyson).
