For two long years, a dog named Stanley has waited to be adopted from a Long Island, New York, animal shelter. Stanley arrived at the Babylon Animal Shelter back in 2019 – he was taken in at the facility with an old leg injury which resulted in amputation of the limb.

Stanley recovered from the surgery long ago, but still he waits…hoping against hope that someone will find him worthy of adoption someday.

Two years ago, a social media post on Stanley’s behalf read:

My name is Stanley and I am a big mushy love. My shelter friends say I’m a trip! I am about 1 and half years old, full of puppy energy and am OBSESSED with PEOPLE! I might be missing a leg, but I’m so full of love and life and have a HUGE heart. I am AMAZING. 🤩

With additional information about his personality:

I LOVE people and crave attention. I need a home that understands me and my needs and one that will give me lots of time and patience. I need to learn some manners and just get so excited to see you I can be a little much for some people. But once I get my energy out, I calm right down and love to hang out and be loved. I also LOVE kids .. probably over 12 because I jump and don’t want to knock anyone over! 😍
I am super smart, love to run and play and LOVE the pool! I need to learn some leash manners but I’m working on it. I promise you will love me. I just need a chance! I am SUPER stressed at the shelter and desperately need a family to love. I must be the only pet. ❤️

Years have passed since that post was made, and Stanley continues to wait. Will you please help him find his perfect home?

  1. Hi Stanley: I think you will be a wonderful snuggle buddy!!! I would adopt you in a heartbeat but I have 4 other rescued dogs (& I live in Washington state, clear across the entire continent)……. I am hoping that someone local can open their heart and home for you……..
