Abandoned dog and newborn pups abandoned in taped up, plastic boxes left outside of shelter

Someone abandoned a nursing mother dog, and multiple puppies, outside of a Big Spring, Texas, animal shelter. Whoever abandoned the dogs left a note taped to the top of the plastic crates, requesting that the dogs be taken care of.

On Saturday, the Happy Day Humane Society posted photos of the crates, and the dog and puppies who were taped inside, recounting what happened:

This morning when our staff arrived to work, these two containers were left at the gate. There was a note taped on the top telling us the dogs names & to please take care of them. There are two young pups & a nursing Mama with 9 puppies.

And reminding everyone to please spay and neuter their pets:

This is the perfect example of why it’s so important to spay & neuter your animals. 11 unwanted pups.
