A New Jersey animal rescue is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of whoever neglected and abandoned a dog who was left tied to a pole in the cold. The St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center announced the offering of the reward on Friday, explaining what happened:

One of our animal control officers received a concerning call about a little dog—we are calling him Lux—who was abandoned in the freezing cold outside an apartment complex in Irvington, New Jersey. Lux was tied to a pole with a rope on the corner of North Maple Avenue and Eastern Parkway.

Lux’s fur was so badly matted that he was in extreme pain, and circulation to his paw was impaired. The rescue group explains:

Our officer immediately rushed Lux to an emergency veterinary hospital, where the caring medical team gently cut away the matts and treated his wounds. Unfortunately, Lux’s paw was so severely damaged the veterinarian told us his entire leg would need to be amputated.

We’re also offering a reward of $5,000 for any information that can help lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Lux’s condition. Please call 908-526-3330 to contact our animal control officers.

Very glad this precious little treasure was rescued and is getting the veterinary treatment he desperately needs. I hope he recovers ASAP and is rehomed into a loving furever family where he will be treated as a beloved family member.
