Woman who sparked outcry decapitating owl on social media shot dead

Six months after a woman sparked outcry by decapitating a barn owl in a social media video was shot dead in a drive-by shooting in Colombia. Mileydis Aldana, 21, was assassinated by a motorcycle driver at her home in Corozal on Sunday.

According to the Daily Mail, Aldana, dubbed the “Owl Killer,” was murdered six-months after she killed the live owl in a video she posted online. She then posed with the dead bird showing its head with one hand while holding the headless bird in her other hand. She then showed the knife she used while holding a bottle of liquor.

Officials reported two men arrived at Aldana’s home, and one of the men fired six shots; then they sped away. The woman was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

In June, police questioned Aldana about killing the owl after Colombia’s environmental agency had been contacted. She had been under investigation, and in recent weeks had complained about threats against her on social media.

Following her death, animal lovers had no problem commenting with many social media participants making their views public.

Excellent !!! Should have done the same to her, as she did to the owl. Hope all animal abusers take notice. One of the few positive news reports to come out of Columbia. Wouldn’t surprise me if the shooters were the police.
