A woman, caught on home surveillance video biting and beating a dog, has not been publicly identified or charged with a crime. As reported by KRCR News, the woman, and the dog, were located by the authorities thanks to tips from the public, but as of yet, she has not been charged and her name has not been released.
On Tuesday, Haven Humane Society issued a release about the dog recorded in the disturbing incident, which happened in Redding, California:
We want to update everyone on the dog that was seen being abused last week in the home surveillance video. The dog is a young male Bull Mastiff and is a very friendly and sweet boy.
He has now been at Haven since last Friday, January 10, and will be with us for awhile. While he is here he is receiving love and care from our team and is in very good hands. He was seen at our Veterinary Hospital and is in good health.
Though the woman has not yet been charged, there is promise that charges will be forthcoming. The animal welfare agency explained:
We are now working with the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office to make sure that the woman responsible is punished to the fullest extent within the letter of the law. I want to be clear that the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office is taking this case very seriously and is doing everything they can to ensure the individual in this case is prosecuted properly.
Video of the disturbing incident went viral on social media prior to the woman’s arrest. The video shows her repeatedly biting the frightened dog, throwing him to the ground, and hitting him. The homeowner did not discover the abusive situation until after the woman had left the property.
