A Michigan woman is facing a felony animal cruelty charge for hanging her mother’s dog from a gate with jumper cables. According to multiple sources, 28-year-old Shavon LewisRoby is the woman identified as the person who allegedly hanged her mom’s dog on Sunday at a home on Detroit’s east side.
It was a neighbor who made the grim discovery – calling Detroit Animal Care and Control after finding the dog’s lifeless body. The animal control agency turned the case over to the Detroit Police Department and the Michigan Humane Society. LewisRoby was arrested on Tuesday and she is facing a second degree animal killing charge. The felony charge carries a maximum seven-year prison sentence.
The authorities have not released a motive for the cruel killing.
