A Hamden, Connecticut, woman is facing multiple charges of animal cruelty following the discovery of dozens of animals at her residence. According to multiple sources, 59-year-old Donna Scirocco, was arrested this week on six counts of animal cruelty. There was a warrant for Scirocco’s arrest stemming from the late October discovery and she turned herself in to the authorities on Tuesday.
According to a news release from the Hamden Police Department, animal control officers seized 26 cats, 6 dogs, 2 caged squirrels and an owl on October 26. Officers also found three deceased animals, including two cats and a woodchuck.
Quinnipiac Valley Heath District officials who were present at the residence located at 200 Blue Hills Avenue deemed the residence “uninhabitable.”
Scirocco is due in Superior Court on Feb. 5.
