The Houston, Texas, woman who was captured on video viciously kicking a puppy is now claiming that she did so in “self-defense.” The incident was posted to social media (click here to view on Facebook) and prompted the offering of a reward from the Houston SPCA to anyone who could find and hand over the pup to their agency.
The woman, Jay, told Click 2 Houston News that the puppy had jumped on her five-year-old son and scratched the child on the ear. She claims that the puppy is not hers and that he jumped into the car where the video shows the alleged abuse taking place.
The pup was handed over to the animal welfare agency shortly after the Houston SPCA asked the public for assistance in finding the dog. The agency announced:
WE GOT HIM! During our search this morning with Houston Police Department, a compassionate animal lover who says she found Max after the vicious attack in the viral video turned him over to us after she saw one of the flyers. We are so grateful for the love she’s shown this little guy!
The investigation is ongoing. The woman has stated that she won’t face cruelty charges, but that remains to be seen.
