A woman who wasn’t practicing social distancing with a bison at Yellowstone National Park was injured on Wednesday just two days after the park reopened by President Trump’s behest.

“A female visitor was knocked to the ground and injured by a bison,” the National Park Service stated. “She was assessed and refused transport to a medical facility.”

According to NbcNews, the injury occured in the Old Faithful Upper Geyser Basin as the woman approached the bison to get closer. Park officials have not had any other reports this year of a bison incident with humans. The posted rules call for visitors to stay at least 25 yards away from all large animals including bison, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, moose and coyotes and at least 100 yards away from bears and wolves.

What is so difficult about leaving wild animals alone? Why do some ignorant humans assume a wild animal wants to be friends with them?  The attack is currently under investigation.

The park had been closed since March 24 due to Covid-19 pandemic. On May 13, Trump opened them.
