In Henderson County, Kentucky, a road crew found a dog in the road median. She had been lying on the parkway stuffed into a plastic bag unable to move and shivering. The Arrow Fund, located in Louisville, rushed the dog dubbed Penny to the emergency veterinarian hospital.
Tragically, this dog has clearly been the victim of egregious abuse during her short life. According to the animal welfare organization, all three of Penny’s broken legs had been like that for at least a week before she had been thrown from the moving car. One leg was so badly broken, it could not be saved.
Surgery has since been performed on her other two legs and veterinarians are optimistic her fractured tail bone will heal on its own.
“This poor girl has clearly suffered enormous abuse in her short life. We are grateful to Dr. Winthrop, her surgeon at Blue Pearl, for her expertise and hours of critical care and surgery to save her life,” the animal welfare organization posted on their Facebook page.
And for the good news – Penny is already trying to stand and has successfully stolen the hearts at the intensive care unit of the hospital with her sweet personality.
