Tips sought in cruelty investigation involving death of puppy

Tips are being sought for an animal cruelty investigation in Lenawee County, Michigan. The case involves the death of a 10-week-old pit bull mix puppy. In July, the pup, dubbed Brave, was dropped off at the Lenawee Humane Society in poor condition. The animal welfare agency noted that he was emaciated and his muzzle had been taped closed.

The shelter recounted how the pup was found:

Earlier this afternoon this young pup, named Brave by his finder, was brought into our shelter by a Police Officer. He was found abandon in a park and left to die in these stifling summer temperatures.

Our veterinarian estimated Brave to be about 10 weeks old and from his current condition it appears cruelty and neglect are all he knows. He is so emaciated he can not walk or barely stand.

Weighing just 6.6 pounds, Brave had wounds around his muzzle consistent with being taped or tied shut. Partly healed scars alongside fresh wounds on his muzzle suggests this poor pup has endured such cruelty on more than one occasion. Brave needs round the clock care and monitoring and lots of love.

Shortly thereafter, the shelter let Facebook followers know that Brave died from the neglect. Now, Crime Stoppers of Lenawee County is hoping that a member of the public will provide a tip to help facilitate an arrest.
