Along a rest area in Rochford, Essex, a cyclist spotted a tiny head peeking out of a cardboard box on Saturday. When the man stopped and discovered the three skinny abandoned puppies – no more than eight-weeks-old, one had already died.

According to the (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals) RSPCA’s inspector, Adam Jones, stated the puppies were immediately transported to organization’s veterinarian staff where they were diagnosed with Parvovirus.

The puppies had been microchipped with a Hungarian chip not registered in the UK; authorities fear the puppies may have been imported into the country to be sold, and when they became sick, they were abandoned.

“It would appear that these pups are the victims of the cruel puppy trade and we are keen to find out what happened to them,” stated Jones.

For now, the surviving puppies – one boy and one girl are on fluids and receiving round-the-clock care. It is hoped they will survive.
