In Brooklyn, New York, a 12-year-old dachshund named Bobbi was surrendered to the Animal Care Center on Monday because his elderly owner could no longer care for him. Bobbi uses a wheelchair to maneuver – thankfully his mode of transportation accompanied him.

Bobbi is described an awesome little guy who is sweet and respectful, but he is terrified at the shelter. Who can blame him? He had been with the same person since he was a puppy. He has a history of spinal injury; his back legs are paralyzed.

INTAKE 04/27/2020

BOBBI 92976
BROOKLYN ACC
Estimated to be 12 years old, 15 Lbs 11 oz
NEUTERED MALE, SMALL MIXED BREED
Bobbi is not bothered when held or restrained, when moved off the furniture, when his sleep is interrupted, when his paws are touched, when his coat is brushed, or when someone gives him a bath. He will bark when left outside to come back in.

Shelter notes include the following:

“Bobbi is described as friendly, affectionate, and mellow. When someone is home, he will follow them around and be in the same room as them. He loves to sleep and lay around with someone when they are home. He does not play anymore, has been kept mostly indoors, and will sleep in his crate. He has been fed small bites dry food and will have food out all day. Bobbi was house trained but now is not on a schedule and has begun to urinate and defecate in the home. When left home alone, he is well behaved. He has not been left alone in the yard so behavior is unknown. He is crate trained and does well for several hours. He responds to his name, come, and let’s go in Spanish. He goes on slow walks on the leash and does not pull. He will stay by someone’s side when off the leash and constantly look up at them to make sure they are still walking.”

Bobbi has been around children, other dogs and cats.

This little guy will need special care. Surely there is someone who can love and care for him. Share his plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.

    • DO YOU LIVE IN THE NE USA? If not, you need to apply online with a rescue in your area IF they will work with the over 240 New Hope approved rescues that are allowed to pull from here. Saying I will take does nothing.
