A dog, described as the “sweetest old man” has been surrendered to an animal shelter in Washington state. The dog, named Wheezy, is in the care of the Humane Society for Tacoma Pierce County, which stated:
Wheezy arrived at the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County this week when his owners were no longer able to care for him – hairless, itchy, and with a skin infection caused by severe allergies.
Adding:
Wheezy’s whole body, from head to toe, is in pain and raw due to the irritated skin and open sores. He’s cold because there is no fur to warm his body, and he is tired after so many years of continually scratching his itchy skin.
Though Wheezy undoubtedly does not feel good, he maintains a sweet demeanor. The shelter writes:
All he wants is to lean on you and be loved. It breaks our hearts to think about how his skin got to this point with no intervention. The senior dog needs medical care, healthy food, and loving support, and we are determined to give that to him.
