Baxter’s story brings tears to all of our eyes. On Friday, the dog arrived at Stray Rescue of St. Louis; it’s hard to believe people can be so cruel.
According to the rescue organization, Baxter had been hit by a car resulting in his two back legs being broken. The accident happened six weeks ago, and at the time he had been abandoned and left in excruciating pain. From there, a report stated he arrived at a veterinarian’s office where he does not appear the dog was treated. He was then sent to an animal shelter in Illinois.
“Now he’s here with us,” Randy Grim, the founder of the rescue posted on social media accompanied by copies of Baxter’s leg x-rays. “To be honest with you, we’re not sure if there’s anything we can do at this point. We’re making him comfortable as possible, and if he has a chance, we’ll give it to him. We’d give him the world if we could. It’s unfortunate he had to endure so much pain for so long…”
At this time, Baxter’s prognosis is unknown, but at the very least this dog has a fighting chance. There is no doubt humans need to work on being kind.
