Stray puppy slowly strangling from tight collar rescued

A one-year-old stray puppy wandering the streets of Fort Lauderdale for months and slowly strangling from his tight collar has been rescued.

“This dog has been being strangled for over six months, if not more, on the streets,” said Amy Roman with the 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida.

The group named the puppy Red, and no matter how many times volunteers had been out to the warehouse area where the dog would sleep, he refused to get close enough for his rescuers to touch him. A Good Samaritan had been feeding Red and putting antibiotics in his food hoping to keep the raging infection around the dog’s neck under control.

And then came Monday. Check out the video. (Copy and paste the URL below into your browser)

According to CbsNews, Amy Roman, with 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida, stated the puppy approached her as if asking for help. He was rushed to the Blue Pearl Animal Hospital where he is currently being treated. Although he has a long road to recovery, Red’s future is looking better.

“Last night as I closed my eyes ALL I & my team could think of was He is Finally safe & out of his pain & suffering. It is still surreal to us. A Rescue Team & Mission I am so very proud of. Red is FINALLY receiving love & medical attention he so desperately needed. Please we ask for your love & support by donating towards his medical. We Thank you in advance for always believing in us & our ongoing mission efforts. Today is a Good Day…”
