Smokey gave up: No one stops to see big black dog at shelter

Smokey gave up! The beautiful black dog no longer runs to the front of the kennel at Southeast Animal Control Authority (SEACCA) in Downey, California. He has learned there is no point.

A shelter volunteer sums up Smokey’s past, present and likely future.

“No one stops to see the big, black dog in the shelter. No one says – look how cute! No one says – maybe this one!…”

Smokey’s age is estimated to be between one and five years. He weighs 42 pounds and has no known medical issues. When he first arrived the shelter described him as “skittish” however he was later moved to the adoptable kennels in the front of the shelter.

“Sadly it is unlikely to matter if he is in the front or not. And Smokey knows that. Tomorrow Smokey will be 2 weeks past due. Smokey will die for no other reason than no one wants him.”

Please share this dog’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives. Animal advocates actually do see Smokey and want all of us to fight for his life. Doesn’t he deserve better?

My cousin & I each have two black dogs and trust me, they are no different than white, brown, tan or red dogs……they beg for treats, love the dog park, bark at squirrels, love Grammy & Grampy, HATE the vet & bath time…….

If I lived in the area I would happily foster this precious treasure. I hope someone local will open their heart and home for this gorgeous boy……. He is certainly very welcome to join us in Seattle!!!
