Update: Rescued 1/13/20

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction and that is the case with a recently impounded German shepherd who was left at a California animal shelter’s night drop box. On Friday, the Saving Riverside Shelter Dogs Facebook page shared the strange and disturbing circumstances surrounding the dog’s intake, writing:

Shelter notes: “5 year old male GSD//left in night drop box with dead puppy tied to his neck and old wounds on his face//social with dogs and people”

Yes, you read that correctly – the adult German shepherd was left at the shelter’s night drop box with a DEAD puppy tied to his neck. The many questions accompanying the odd intake are outlined in the post – answers to these questions will likely never be known:

Is this the world we are living in now? People surrendering dogs with dead puppies tied to them? Just when you think you’ve seen it all. There has to be cameras on the night drop! Who did this? Was the puppy dead when left with the older dog? Was he sick and died in the night drop prior to shelter staff finding them? Did a good Samaritan find, and not know what to do when they found him like that? So many questions unanswered. These poor dogs. 😭

This dog needs to be saved and to enjoy life with a loving, compassionate owner.
