Dog abandoned in the woods

Shelter pens letter to whoever abandoned dog in the woods

On Wednesday, a shelter in Michigan penned a letter to whoever abandoned their dog in the woods. The Jackson County Animal Shelter writes:

In case you were worried…

Someone found me, your best friend, whom you abandoned in the woods behind the cemetery in Waterloo Township. (Welch Lake Road & Seymour Road)

Adding:

Some kind people brought bowls of food and water for me after calling Animal Control to come cut the duct tape off the clasp on my collar and leash that you secured so well to make sure I couldn’t escape to find help or seek food, water or shelter on my own.

The letter continues:

Even though you left me here, surely you weren’t leaving me to die slowly all alone. How could you? I started calling for you on Sunday. I barked and cried and barked, calling for you to come back.

But someone else came instead. They came today. Someone saved me and fed me and told me I’m a good boy. I don’t know why you left, but these people said I’m safe now and won’t be hungry, thirsty or alone now.

I hope you’re okay and wanted you to know I’m still alive. In case you were worried.
