An Ohio animal shelter has reason to celebrate in the midst of a devastating pandemic which has left the world reeling. The Animal Friends Humane Society, in Hamilton, posted amazing images of empty kennel runs on Thursday and shared the good news, writing:
To our community of animal lovers – YOU MADE THIS POSSIBLE! With the exception of 3 dogs still available in our Dog Adoption wing, and 5 dogs being housed in our Stray Dogs wing waiting on owners to claim them, we have CLEARED OUR SHELTER!

The last 4 days have been busy and exciting! It’s so uplifting to see family after family offering up their homes to a foster animal. This not only lessens the burden on our staff and volunteers, but more importantly it ensures those animals will not have to endure the majority of their days alone in the shelter should we be forced to close down. We simply cannot thank you all enough!
The viral spread of Covid-19 is forcing this shelter (and others across the nation) to make changes. Animal Friends Humane has outlined how they will be operating moving forward.
Effective today (3/19/2020), we will be changing our daily operating hours to 11am-4:30pm (no longer open late Wed or Thur), and our doors will remain locked. We will accept visitors, by appointment only, for adoption, fostering, claiming a lost pet, pet food assistance, or stray dog drop off. You must call the shelter ahead of time to request your appointment 513-867-5727 ext. 0.
