A Florida animal shelter is celebrating the adoption of their longest canine resident. The Orange County Animal Services facility announced that Rocket, who was at the shelter for more than 200 days, finally has a new home.

The shelter writes:

Today is World Smile Day® and we have news that’s sure to bring a smile to your face!

Our longtime shelter resident Rocket, who has spent more days at our shelter than any other pet this year, has received an adoption application and will be leaving soon with his new dad!

As reported by Fox 10 News, Rocket’s adopter discovered the dog thanks to social media. Will Bisbeck tells the news agency:

I got a yard and I was looking for a dog and a buddy of mine posted about Rocket last night actually, and I was like, ‘He’s been there a long time. Let me go check him out.

Adding:

The story brought me in certainly. I’ve always had black labs in the past, but once I saw him and he ran over and started nuzzling my hand, stuff like that, I was like, ‘I can’t leave him here.'”

Enjoy your new life Rocket!
