I few months ago, I introduced column followers to a compassionate dog lover named Dawn Henson Farley. I met Dawn nearly a decade ago when she reached out to me about a business she started to help raise medical funds for her adopted dog, Kaiser, who she saved from death row.
Through the years I stayed in touch with Dawn and I was devastated when she let friends and family know that she had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. A shocking diagnosis especially since she had never smoked.
In September 2019, I wrote an article on Dawn’s behalf – her family was sinking in medical bills from her ongoing fight with relentless cancer. Today I am writing to let everyone know that Dawn’s brave battle with cancer ended on February 23.
Dawn was a good person, an animal lover, devoted foster parent, an advocate for children’s rights, and human rights in general. She was creative, outspoken, passionate and loved her family fiercely, and she will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Rest in peace Dawn.
