Senior Golden Retriever abandoned in New Jersey park

A senior Golden Retriever was abandoned at a New Jersey park on Tuesday. No one knows who deserted him behind or why, but it would seem as if his previous owner left him in a public place where the sweet dog was sure to be found.

On Friday, the dog will be transferred to the Hunterdon Somerset Animal Rescue Center pending release of his stray hold. He is estimated to be about 10-years-old and will need a calm, loving environment to rest, recover and retire.

“After devoting most of his life to someone or some family, this poor sweet dog was found abandoned in a park. As rescuers know, this is all too common…”

We are currently awaiting his behavior evaluation to determine if he will be compatible with other dogs, and his final medical evaluation. These will provide info to determine his needs and help potential adopters decide if they would like to meet him.

This dog is arthritic and would do best in a home without many steps. Please share his story – the ideal situation would be to find his new family so he would not have to be fostered and move again. Follow his news here.
