At the Guilford County Animal Services in Greensboro, North Carolina, two-year-old Simmon is too afraid to leave her kennel. On Thursday afternoon, a shelter volunteer just wanted to make a difference.
“During my shift today, I asked which dogs needed some extra love and attention; Simmon was one of them. She was surrendered in the field to an animal control officer in Gibsonville & as you can see, she is very scared and depressed,” Jessica Mashburn posted on her social media page.
“I sang to her, brought her extra blankets & treats, but she was still not up for leaving her kennel for a walk. The GCAS staff and volunteers are doing all they can to cheer her up.”
Jessica described Simmon as a “sweet soul” who desperately wants to build up her confidence to be around other animals, and will need time to warm up to a human.
