A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever decapitated a family’s cat and left it strategically placed in their Suffolk County, New York, yard. According to the Suffolk County SPCA, the headless cat was found on the morning of March 30.
The grim discovery was in the backyard of a home on Oak Street in Centereach (north of Middle Country Road). The animal welfare agency explains:
The family’s beloved female, black/tan colored semi-feral cat named Pepper was found completely decapitated and placed in the center of the yard (the head was not present ). Pepper was last seen alive between 7-8 PM on March 29, 2020 when she was fed on the rear steps of the home.
A veterinary exam revealed that the cat had suffered blunt force trauma and that the head was removed with a sharp tool.
Information and reward
A $1000 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the cat’s death. Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, said that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County. If you witness any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County please contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722. All calls will be kept confidential.
