The discovery of a skeletal dog, who died of starvation in Sevier County, Tennessee, has sparked an investigation and the offering of a reward. The skin and bones boxer mix, dubbed Athena, died shortly after approaching people in Kodak. The Sevier Animal Care Center writes:
We need your help! Animal Control is seeking any information or leads that will help them with a cruelty case. A couple of weeks ago a boxer mix female came up to some folks on Alton Drive in Kodak. She collapsed and died shortly after from what we believe to be starvation.

If you think you may have any information on this girl or her owner, please call Animal Control at 865-453-4668. Please let them know if you know anything.
The animal control agency said:
We want to make sure that this never happens again.
Reward
On January 24 the animal control agency stated:
The pledged reward for valuable information has risen to $700. Also we have decided to name this girl Athena after the warrior Goddess of strength, justice, and courage.
Yesterday: Injured puppy given 48 hours to live at animal control – needs help now
