A reward is being offered in a disturbing case of animal cruelty in Tennessee. The rescue group, Dogs on Borrowed Time, announced the offering of the reward, and provided details of the heartbreaking situation, to Facebook followers:
We were contacted this morning about a dog that was hurt on the side of Clouse Hill Road in Grundy County. Before any of us saw the messages, we were contacted by one of our vets asking if we could help a hurt dog that had just been brought in by a concerned citizen (thank you to whomever took him in!). It was indeed the same dog we had been contacted about earlier. Of course we said yes, but we were not prepared for what the outcome was.
According to the rescue group, the dog, dubbed Max, has been shot at close range in the face. The rescue agency explained the extent of the damage, writing:
Both of his eyes were gone (non-functional) and most likely had pellets in his brain. When he was found this morning, he was walking around in circles, well no wonder! I am so mad right now that I can’t even find the right words as I type this post. I cannot wrap my head around how much pain and how scared Max must have been!
Adding words of disgust to whoever is behind the heinous deed:
Who in their right minds shoots a dog in the face??? And then let’s it walk away as if nothing happened??? We suspect he was shot and then dumped along side the road as the poor baby was found walking in circles. How in world could he have traveled like that? It’s not likely.

The group is hoping to find whoever is responsible and hold them accountable for their actions:
It would be amazing if Max could get justice for what was done for him! If you recognize him or know anything, please speak up! This is the ONLY way these low life’s are going to be help responsible for their actions!!

If you have any information to offer in this case, please reach out to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office at 931-692-3466. According to the rescue agency, the reward has climbed to over $2500.
