The reality of what happens to many dogs who wind up in animal control agencies was put on full display for residents near the Cache dog pound in Oklahoma. A woman, who does not want to be identified, discovered a pile of dead dogs on property behind the animal control agency and took photos to post to a local Facebook community page.
As reported by KSWO News, the images were published to the Cache Rant and Rave Facebook group, and she wrote:
If anyone ever wonders what happens to their dogs when they go to the Cache Pound. Here are 6 beautiful dogs whose lives were cut short. This is heartbreaking and disgusting. They just left them here to rot. There should be an investigation on Cache Animal Control.
Gary Hataway, another Cache resident, told the news agency:
“On something like that, I think the public should be aware of what’s really going on with our city. It’s supposed to be an animal shelter, and that didn’t show me it was a shelter with a big pile of dogs in the open just left there.”
The dogs have since been removed. The town mayor has stated that an investigation is being conducted and a statement about the incident will be made when that investigation is wrapped up.

Let’s hope the investigation results in action otherwise, this will only continue. Did anyone else notice that there is a Petland ad on this site? I’m sure Ms. Eims did not accept this ad, that it is a random placement by an automatic placement system based on content about pets. However, it is definitely not appropriate for a rescue site.
