Rescuers didn’t know what animal it was under pounds of matted hair

At the Arizona Humane Society, a neglected animal was rescued, but when staff first responded to the call on Friday, they could barely tell what type of animal was under the pounds of matted hair.

And then the makeover began; the animal turned out to be an abandoned cat and the team manager to shave and cut away two pounds of matted fur from the four-year-old cat’s eight-pound body.

Her name – Fluffer – for all obvious reasons of course, and throughout her spa process spanning a few days, Fluffer was most cooperative and sat patiently as her groomers went to work. The transformation was done at the organization’s Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital.

On Instagram, where Fluffer’s story was told, the kitty became an internet star.

“Show us a better #Transformation Tuesday than Fluffer cat …we’ll wait!”

Miraculously Fluffer was healthy underneath all that matted mess, and two days later she was adopted.
