On Sunday afternoon, two starving stray dogs suffering with porcupine quills stuck in their faces were rescued. Janine Guido, founder of Speranza Animal Rescue, received a call about the dogs found in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, wandering in state game lands.

The Good Samaritans who found the dogs contacted everyone they could to help, but had no luck; no one returned their calls or offered any assistance.

“These two were running around our cabin last night, wouldn’t let us secure them but did eat some food. They must have gotten the quills last night looked for them this morning and couldn’t find them. Happy Janine is going to help them,”… the person who found the dogs posted on social media.

It is unknown if the dogs were dumped or somehow lost their way. It seems however, they have been on their own for quite awhile.

When Janine arrived, the white female had labored breathing, and instead of heading back home for the two hour drive to the organization’s partner veterinarian, she drove to a closer emergency veterinarian.

“Just got to CP Vet Emergency in State College. I’ve named them Murdock and Margaret. Murdock walked in however Margaret had to be carried. She’s in rough shape.

I’m waiting for them to evaluate and then come up with a treatment plan.”

  1. I hurt just looking at the snapshots…… I can’t even begin to imagine their pain……
I am glad these furbabies were rescued and are receiving veterinary care. I hope they both heal ASAP and are rehomed into living furever families who will treat them as precious treasures!!!
